Accepting Artist Proposals Now!

We are calling on our artistic community to collaborate with our youth to create a lasting public art piece with our partner, Our Place Community Outreach.

Do you care about equitable community food systems? Love to collaborate? Are you an artist with a passion for community-engaged art?

Then we want to hear from you! Share your vision and submit your application by April 22. Please outline your project details, artist information, and connection to West Central or placemaking.

Submission requirements:

  • Download the proposal form using the button below

  • Complete the proposal form

  • Send completed form to Stephanie Watson on or before April 22, 2024.

Project Details:

Overview:

  • Proposals will be accepted between Tuesday, March 5, 2024 and Monday, April 22, 2024.

  • This community art project:

    • Is intended to illustrate the importance of community food access and systems work within the West Central neighborhood; and

    • Will be installed at Our Place Community Outreach’s building at 1509 W College Avenue in the West Central neighborhood of Spokane. Please note that this building’s exterior is corrugated metal siding.

  • The selected artist (or team of artists):

    • Will design and implement this mural with feedback from community members and partners in mind;

    • Will plan the mural’s development and implementation timeline for installation in summer/fall 2024; and

    • Will be asked to co-facilitate three (3) workshops for youth and community members throughout the design and implementation process.

Evaluation Information:

Proposals will be evaluated by youth, community members, and staff representing Project Hope Spokane and Our Place Community Outreach. Artists whose submissions reflect collaborative, community-centered approaches will be prioritized during the review process.

Budget & Stipend:

Project Hope Spokane, dba River City Youth Ops, is awarding a $5,000 stipend via check to the artist or artist team that is selected. Meals and other resources will be provided to the artist(s) during workshops.

  • Note, the artist may allocate the award as they see fit to additional collaborators, but only one submission is requested per collaboration.

Materials, Supplies, & Vendors:

On your form, please identify the materials and quantities needed for your concept, your preferred vendors, cost estimates, and any additional information to support budgeting for this project. Please note that marine plywood or an alternative approach may be needed due to the nature of the building’s corrugated metal siding.

Thank you for your time and proposals! If you have questions about this project, please reach out to stephanie.watson@projecthopepokane.org.
